Installation of Green Screens

  • To achieve a level, straight finish set up a line as guide from the start to the corner of the run.
  • Mark the location of the posts and place them at a distance of 51 in. to 53 in. apart (centre to centre dependant on the post dimensions.) Always install the posts in a concrete foundation. This foundation must be at least 12 in. x 12 in. x 24 in. NOTE: The top of the foundation should be between 10 in. to 12 in. below ground level.
  • Position the posts so the top of the posts will be at the same height as the Greens Screens.
  • Dig a trench of 16 in. wide and 16 in. deep.
  • Loosen the soil at the bottom of the trench and water the trench before planting.
  • Fill the trench to a depth of 8 in. with compost and/or fertilized garden soil. Firm this soil a little so the Green Screen can rest on it.
  • Place the Green Screen in the trench and make sure that the top of the biodegradable cocopot is just below ground level. There should not be any coconut fibers visible.
  • Screw the brackets onto the posts and hang the screen on the bracket ensuring the frame wire is in the recess provided. The 71 in. screens are attached to the posts with the brackets at 8 in. from the top and at the middle on both sides of the careen.
  • Mount the bracket so that the top bracket is supporting the weight of the screen and the bottom bracket is secured over the frame using the lower recess on the bracket to secure the frame wire. The hedge is then properly secured in both directions. Make sure no shoots or stems from the screen plants are caught or restricted by frame or brackets.
  • Fill the rest of the trench around the cocopot with compost or potting soil. Press the soil firmly around the base so that the cocopot is completely in contact with the soil.
  • Water well after installation
